::A ship's desination was headed back to it's home planet. The people on board are happy to be going back to their home planet after a long war. The captain was amazed by how quickly they had gotten to their planet. As he prepared everyone for landing, the thought kept passing through his mind that the trip was suppose to be longer. Arriving on the landing pad all the troops cheered, but then suddenly the unexpected happened. The planet changed before their eyes. Turning from their beautiful homeland to a deserted alien planet in a matter of seconds.  The Captain was in terror himself. He turned to go and re-caculate the distance, but only found that the display and the lights on the ship weren't working. The troops were looking outside in horror, as the captain came back and examined the outside along with him. Then he asked the five bravest troops to step onto the land.::

Suddenly the ground near Jake began to sink inward and collapse into a cone shape. "What's going on?!" Yelled the captain as the ground continued to sink in. A troop that walked down along with Jake was suddenly swept into the hole. Right then, the back of the ship began sinking. "Everyone out!" Yelled the catain as the troops started running away from the second hole. They ran franticly from the shifting grounds. They stopped a few yards away and watched as their ship was devored by the land underneath their feet.

The Captain growled in fustration. "Dangit, we lost Jensen! Good thing your alright Jake!"

Name: Jade Carrik

Personality:Cool, calm, collected, distant. And at other times flirty, tomboyish and comical.
Background: Legionaire
Suit: A layered down MJOLNIR armor known as SPI armor. Taken directly from the novel Halo: Ghost of Onyx. It is black in color with a amber polarized faceplate.
Profession: Assassin, sniper.
Weapons: Pistol at her right thigh, Sniper rifle slung across her back and two mini machine guns at her waist.
Accessories: A duffel bag carrying eight standard issue assault rifles, ammunition for weapons, grenades (flash, bang and sticky) and rations to last for several days.


Jade had stepped off the ship and onto the platform carrying the crews cashe of weapons and food along with her own equipment. She had no idea how she had been given such a glorious honor. Her mind flashed back to a card game, similar to poker and how she'd lost miserably. Jade groaned through her helmet and over TEAMCOM.

"Why do I always get stuck with--"

But just as she said this the earth began to cave under their ship and a nearby soldier. She started to run for him but as she reached the hole he'd vanished into the abyss. She cursed her and his misfortune and took off running after the men, luckily because of her immense training and bio-augmentations she caught up and passed all of the troops coming to a stop first carrying 400 pounds of armor and weaponry as she went. She surveyed her surroundings and saw a nearby plateau not but a few miles away. She instantly saw the tactical advantage of such a place and magnified her HUD display to see past that and to her cold terror she saw an army of alien soldiers marching towards their current location. She turned back to the Capt. and almost yelled over TEAMCOM.

"Capt.! We need to get these men to cover, like NOW! There is a rather large and angry alien army bearing down on this location at a fast clip, if we don't move they will outflank and capture us. And I don't know about you but, I didn't just survive a war to die here! ..Sir!

Sir, may I suggest we take cover over there in that plateau? And set up an ambush of about 20 men and myself with sniper rifles? We'll pick them off hoping to send them into disarray. Capt. ...Sir, what do you say?"

Her expression impossible to tell from her polarized face plate. The camouflage of her SPI armor melting her into the back ground of dirt, sand and orange air from waist up.

The Captain frowned at the news. "Yes, that's probably going to be our best bet! Follow everyone!" The Captain and the soliders began running towards the Plateau. He turned to Jade, " About how many do you think there are? We only have so many men!" Then he quickly turned and nodded at Jake to tell the others to prepare their weapons.

[It is common knowledge that she is a Legionaire. A spartan basically with a different name]
Jade instantly snapped off her reply as she was taught to do from her earliest memories. 'Always respect your CO' the voice of her drill sgt. and mentor swam through her head.

"Sir, I'd say about 200. But they look disorderly in their formation, I'd guess they lack training or combat experience, they shouldn't be that much of a problem."

She said in her mind though swam that annoying superior voice saying 'well at least not for me, I'm a Legionaire' it was a very annoying thing to have in the field of battle. Over confidence got you killed. she blinked from beneath her face plate realizing that she hadn't finished yet speaking.

"Sir..."

She paused before continuing on.

"We need to bury mines in the sand so that when the aliens cross through the field it can be set off. And how are we on granadiers? We could use a few of 'em to launch flashbangs from the assault rifles. And then let me and ten of your best marksmen pick off the confused aliens. Our only advantage is surprise, stealth and cover, we lose any of them and we're through."

She said over TEAMCOM, this time making sure that every soldier knew how grave the situation was. She was different from most legionaires, in that she thought more about things she was taught not to and more cunning than most. If she could gain the mens trust they would follow her orders more willingly and without question, an asset on a unknown planet.

Jade was running along side the Capt. and the soldier in similar armor to hers. Though like her he was barely in a stride, trying to keep with in formation of the troops who held a loose "v". She then chimed in over open TEAMCOM.

"Make you shots count men, we don't know how long we'll be here..."

The captain took his gun from his side. "Alright Jade, you take half the men and set up the traps down here. Me, Jake, and the other half will be waiting for you at the top of the plateau!" He turned his head and pointed to the soliders he was going to take and gestured his hands so that they knew to follow him. The group split up. ~~ Once at the top of the Plateau, the captain stood near the edge. He could see the mob of aliens marching close by. "Get ready men!" He said to the others. "Set up the snipers, and aim your guns!" Everyone followed the orders in an orderly manner. He looked down at the other troops at the bottom, on the ground.

Jade gave a quick salute and motioned for her half of the men to come with. Jade then began to run at her full speed, Leaving her troops behind, her training had taken over and she knew time was of the essence. She reached the right spot first, it was a narrow valley in between both plateaus. She began to place three mines at the entrance of the valley--where the aliens were about to enter.

The rest of her battalion caught up to her and she tossed 5 of them grenades and mines and then motioned for the other five to take up positions along the face of the plateau. The other soldiers began to place the mines and grenades in a loose star pattern making sure to bury them enough so that the aliens would not see it, Jade had finished priming two of the most powerful mines she had and placed them horizontally across from each other at the center of the valley along the face of the plateau. She then quickly looked back at the 5 still on the sand, saw that all but one was finished, she motioned over the COM that they follow their friends and get into position at various altitudes, they complied.

The soldiers began to scale the face of the cliff looking for a vantage point that had enough cover but still had optimal vision. It was needless to say hard work, all the best spots had been taken by the other soldiers, some ended up sharing a shelter with another man.

Jade turned back to the soldier still working the mine, she had no idea why he was having so much trouble, jade gave a glance back at the alien contingent and she could make out the turquoise of their armor and the spiked horns jutting from their shoulders, instinctively she went stealth, her SPI armor blending seamlessly with her surroundings, making her appear invisible. Jade took four steps at full stride before she was upon the bumbling soldier, she spoke to him over the COM.

"Soldier, what are you doing? Finish and hide. Come on, we don't have much time."

But the man did not respond, he instead slumped over in the sand, Jade quickly turned him over and saw that a forearm-size worm with enormous fangs was chewing through his armor, it had a stinger in the mans belly. Immediately Jade grabbed for her sidearm and shot three times at the soft part of the worm, it released from his body and jumped at Jade, two more well aimed shots from her gun at the creatures split-jawed, multi-mouthed face, dropped it dead in the sand. Jade then bent down and touched the soldiers neck, his vital signs were weak, his pulse faint. But she could not kill him, instead she hurriedly placed his mines and grenades wherever she could in the sand and threw the man over her shoulders, he bled profusely from his chest and stomach wound. Jade guessed the thing was sucking his blood and keeping it from spilling out.

She quickly began to scale the face of the plateau, she now had the wounded soldier over her back bleeding all over her armor, so that she was now visible, her duffel bag full of ammunition and weapons and her sniper rifle, assault rifle and dual side arms. Though she was highly encumbered she still managed to scale the face with ease, the extra weight on her was barely felt. After scaling to the very top, she found a small cave, hurriedly she threw the man into the rear of it and flipped herself within. She was hidden within the shadows if its opening. Jade whipped out her SRQ-453 High powered rifle from her back, sighted the nearest alien who was few hundred feet away from the entrance, took three breaths before she went completely calm, her aim perfect and steady. She then flipped on her secure TEAMCOM and whispered over it.

"RED TEAM, Status report."

The highest ranking man of her unit a Sergeant Carl grunted out his reply.

"Sir, we are all in position and ready. We await your orders.
...
What was that--"

Jade cut him off.

"Good wait till after two mines go off before opening fire, make your shots count we don't have a lot of ammo. That means Head and neck shots when possible."

She then clicked the COM off, ignoring his question completely, it was not good for a soldier to be distracted before battle. He had to have complete focus.

She then turned her COM on again but switched the channel to the Capt.'s.

"Sir, we are in place. Tell your men to wait till after to mines go before firing. I don't think I have to tell you that we don't have enough ammo or food to fight a long battle, sir.

And one more thing...We have a problem. One of the soldiers is wounded, he was attacked by a giant worm creature, who apparently is carnivorous. I would be careful if I were you, but don't tell your men yet we don't want them distracted."

She ten clicked off but left the channel open for replies. After that she blinked twice the green signal for the go-ahead. Which meant to remove the safety from you weapons and waited. The Alien leader was 50 ft from the lip of the valley, he began to get wary or so she thought. He moved more cautiously and motioned to his disorganized troops to spread out more. Jade smiled from beneath her face plate, so they weren't all green? Interesting. She thought to herself, before quickly brushing it aside and regaining her Zen-like concentration.

jake was about to fire when a lazer went right through his arm. "DAMN!! he shouted. He turned to the captain and said, "I've been hit!!!"

The captain looked over at jake is disbeilef, but it was true, the aliens had spotted them. Suddenly one of the mines went off as the enemy began to advance. A few of the grunt aliens began to panic and run around in different directions, causing a few more mines to blow up.

"Take aim and shoot men!"

The soliders began their attacks from the plateau. The captain gave a cocky smile as he watched the aliens fall over and die, one by one. The mines seemed to be taking out most of them. With eyes narrowed, the captain noticed a few discolored aliens escaping. He frowned, that wasn't good.

He signaled for one of his best snipers to come over. "Them."
The sniper knew exactly what the captain was talking about, he got into postion and shot the two discolored aliens. His head shots were amazingly accurate.

Joe walks over to one of the aliens. He takes out his gas. Pours it on the alien. Drops a match. As he turns around everyone is looking at him in disbelif. He says, "I'm starving.... Can you blame me?" He looks over at the alien, and uses an extinguisher to put out the fire. "Mmmmm..... extra crispy just the way I like it."

Jake lookes over his wound and finds a dart in his shoulder. "They've injected something into-" (faints)

Jade cursed inwardly as she saw a soldier on the opposite plateau get hit and fall she yelled over her COM,

"FIRE~~~~EE!!"

Her soldiers surprised by her ferocity fired back, taking out the majority of the aliens that had been confused by the ambush, she noticed the Champion (What I'm naming the Alien that was leading the unit, he's like an Elite) expertly dodge the blasts from the mines, he ducked underneath the beam trap and began to sprint for the plateau which held the Capt. Arrogance. Jade spat, she sighted the ugly beast and shot once, the bullet grazed its neck. this got the Champions attention because it stopped dead in its tracks and looked around confused. Jade knew that she had to make her shots fast, she whipped her rifle around towards the small group of aliens who were escaping, sighted one, the farthest. Waited...and fired. The Grunt fell, shot through its spine. She swiveled her weapon, saw the next target, fired, it fell, shot through the head. She re-sighted, found the farthest target still, adjusted to account for the wind and fired, the round arced through the air and splashed into the base of the grunts skull.

Without a second thought she dropped the rifle, and jumped from her emplacement, somersaulting in the air as she went, she landed gracefully on all fours,looked up at the Champion who was still dazed, it looked at her and its three jaws snarled, the spines of its back lit up and it drew its pole weapon. A deadly beam escaped from its tip, the beast lunged at Jade. The Legionaire calmly drew her forearm length, revibrating dagger (its repels the effects of beam weapons, nullifying them. Making them as useful as a regular blade, so long as it connects to the vibrating blade. I.e. the beam-blade does not cut through the revibrating dagger), she held it in a defensive position and quickly yelled over TEAMCOM so that everyone could hear.

"Do not interfere no matter what!!!! (I.e. Don't roleplay your char killing it, stay up in your emplacements and kill the rest of the aliens)"

She barked to all, even making sure that the Champion heard her (she turned on the speaker). It expertly charged her, the beam held facing down and away, dragging in the dirt. The beam was so hot that when the sand cooled small diamonds were left in its wake. Jade knew that one strike from it would drain her shields and a vital strike would break through her shields and melt her armor, she waited for the last possible second then rolled to her left, coming up just as the thing past her. Jade sliced the thing in its back in a diagonal motion. It howled in pain, its three jaws splitting open. It turned to face Jade who'd adopted a low stance spat and cursed at her.

Jade was sure it was not something she'd like, probably the equivalent to the earth expression 'you son-of-a-*****!' Jade unpolarized her faceplate to reveal her smiling menacingly at the thing before her, she leered at it.

Meanwhile One of fleeing aliens had dove behind a rock and began to fire blindly at the plateau the second continued running full gallop and began to zig-zag in order to make it a harder target. The remaining Aliens who had escaped the blast formed a defensive circle around the wounded and the shield carrying Worms took to the fore, their shield activated and firing from behind it, the other Worms had taken to raising their shields to protect the heads of the aliens in the defensive circle and began to fire powered blast above the Earth soldiers heads, the blast rained back down upon them thanks to gravity, instantly melting several. Their screams were only temporary. As if a nightmare had occured some of the faster cat-like Aliens burst from the circle,ran for the face of the plateau, jumped and began to climb, their beam-swords activated they decapitated the soldiers on the lower levels as they came across them. The ambush had failed and it was turning into a free-for-all, jades soldiers were heavily out numbered and took to shooting the cat-like aliens off the face, their purple blood staining the sand below.

Out of the defensive circle leaped another Champion who headed straight for the Flamethrower Joe, its Twin Beam-swords dancing wildly around it as it madly charged him. Yelling in its language a war-cry and prayer for a honorable battle....
